After 2500 years this branch of plant-growing was already extended in Assyria, Babylon and Egypt. Priests in Egypt were wearing only linum clothes. Fabric from this material symbolized purity and sun. By the way, mummies of Egypt Pharaohs also wrapped in linum fabric.
From Egypt the culture of linum got in Greece. Specially craft was developed in Colchis. That’s why there is a version that the hike for the golden fleece was the hike for searching the secret of making the superfine linum cloth.
